Fatness in the U.S. From Bad to Worse

The annual obesity rankings report recently released by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation shows fatness in America going from bad to worse. Colorado remains the perennial thinnest state, with ONLY 19% of the adult population being obese. And Mississippi keeps a fat grip on the number one spot, retaining its “fattest state in the Union” status for the fifth year in a row with 32.5% of adults obese. Way to go Ole Miss!! You must be so proud.

And what a shocker this is! All those unconscious Mississippi adults are raising the fattest kids of any state as well, with 44.4% (yes that’s frighteningly close to half) of their children ranking overweight or obese. Isn’t that nice?

Just how bad is it? In the past 5 years, not a single state has shown a decrease in the number of overweight and obese adults. That’s 0 for 50 for you baseball fans out there.

But my favorite part of this national disaster is Obama’s desire to institute a government run health insurance plan that will pay the oncoming tsunami of health care costs generated by a population that clearly lacks the will or desire to eat responsibly and exercise effectively.

Anyone hearing any talk of holding Americans accountable for their preventable health care costs? Are you hearing any talk about mandatory lifestyle modification programs for those diagnosed with Type II diabetes or high cholesterol. Anyone hearing calls to deny health insurance to those who continue to smoke cigarettes? I don’t think so.

Hold on to your wallets folks. Obama wants to throw a health care party for America the obese. He wants you to pay for it, and it looks like it is going to be open bar.

I can’t weight.

  1. I do agree that we as individuals should accept responsibility for what we eat and the amount of exercise we get. But the deal breaker is that we individuals are lied to from day one about what foods are good for us such as dairy, wonder bread, we were even told that cigarettes were good for us at one time. There is so much junk food advertising aimed at our kids that they must be confused as hell, and they are. Peolple know more about how their car runs than they do about their own bodies. The Doctors who lie to us aren’t really lying because everything they learn is tainted by Big Pharma who controls the medical education in this country. So they are just passing on what they believe to be true.

I learned about my body the hard way, got sick, real sick, would have been dead 30 yrs. ago, but got better. But it was through eating the food the way GOD put it here, fresh, raw, organic, unprocessed, uncooked, plucked from the vine, that I got better.

I don’t know why I, a meat and dairy eater for years and loved the food, was open to and chose this new path. I was told milk was great for bones and teeth and wonder bread helped build bodies 13 ways. I think it was because I wanted to see my kids grow up, the motivation. I had heard of Hippocrates Health Institute from a family friend 10 yrs before I got sick, the idea, and for some reason it stuck in my head and they saved my life in 3 days after months of know nothing pill pushing doctors.

Some cancer patients still smoke after having lungs removed, some diabetics still eat junk and don’t exercise even after losing toes, feet and legs.

I’m so thankful and so fortunate that I was open minded and motivated enough to step outside my comfort zone and take that step. It saved my life and I have had a chance to watch my 6 beautiful children grow up. So LUCKY!!!

But I often find myself frustrated seeing people suffering needlessly and even dying when they just need to make some very simple changes, which are obvious to me but Not to them. Deceptive Advertising and Money, two of the biggest killers in the US.

Thank you GOD for helping me find the right path, I couldn’t have done it on my own, I had too much bad information.

    • Thank you for your thoughtful reply and for sharing your story.
I enjoyed it and hope others have as well.
There are many roads to health and fitness, but these roads are open only to those willing to pay the toll of personal responsibility.
